New wave electronic pop duo Psychic Twin, one part Erin Fein (vocals) and one part Brett Sanderson (production duties) formerly of now defunct Champaign, Illinois quintet Headlights have a brand new single dropping on limited edition 7" vinyl next month and the retro synth driven number has hit our chart fair and aquare in the eye at 19. It will incidentally be the first of a pack of six singles from their label Lefse. In the tradition of Sub Pop, Lefse have put a 7" series together that will also feature Field Mouse, Sun Glitters, Mister Lies, Martin Eden (Matthew Cooper of Eluvium) and Big Search (Matt Popieluch of Fools Gold/Foreign Born). You can buy the series here.
In other Top 30 news, there is just the two new entries this week after the seven than landed last week. In addition to Psychic Twin, Los Angeles trio Haim are in with their funky new single 'Forever' off the EP of the same name. In case you're wondering about the name Haim, it's actually the surname of the three sisters than make up the core of the band.
There were big moves for two of our new entries last week. Montreal pop geniuses TOPS climb eleven spots and into to the Top 5 with the jaunty and incredibly catchy 'VII Babies" off their recently AOTW'd Tender Opposites. Moving into the Top 10 at number 10 is Philadelphia's White Birds with their simply glorious piece of lo-fi magic, 'Waters'
The top three are as you were with Belfast's Girls Names, 'A Troubled See' at 1, Baltimore's Dead Mellotron, 'Making It' at 2 and Brooklyn's DIIV, 'Doused' at 3.
