BAT FOR LASHES & HOLY OTHER RETURN
Wednesday, 01 August 2012 08:00

We've not heard a great deal from Natasha Khan, aka Bat For Lashes, since the release of 2009's impressive album Two Suns, a record that produced two Indie30 Top 100 singles, including the standout 'Daniel'. Last week she released the first single from her forthcoming third record, The Haunted Man which sees the light of day in the UK in mid-October. 'Laura' debuting at 9, is an sparsely exquisite listen resting with a simple chord progression, horns and Khan's delicately fragile vocals making great strides forward. Lyrically it's brutal but defiant. We look forward to the album immensely. Mancunian producer Holy Other is about to release his debut long player, Held in late August. The title track, in at 16, is a shimmering example of why experimental electronic music has never been so important and follows the icily beautiful trajectory of last year's EP, With U but adds growth in equal measure. Perth pysch rockers Tame Impala are involved in a swap over this week with their first single exiting and their new familiar sounding retro laden work of sonic bliss, Elephant' entering. That's in at 17. Check out the new ones below and the whole chart here.
