GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR RETURN
Friday, 05 October 2012 06:17

After ten long years, Canadian post rock collective Godspeed You! Black Emperor are set to follow up their last opus, Yanqui U.X.O. with a new long player, 'Allelujah! Dont Bend! Ascend!. Having reassembled in 2010 with essentially the same extensive line-up to play a number of music festivals including curating their own ATP event, the band announced last year that they were working on new material. True to their style, they released the album to fans with no fanfare at a concert in Boston on October 1 and did not announce that it would be officially released on October 15 and 16 in Europe/R.O.W./North America respectively. Taking in four tracks in all, which can be found on the CD version, the full vinyl version contains the two twenty minute tracks which are re-workings of live staples 'Albanian' and 'Gamelan' while there will be an accompanying 7" covering the other two shorter 'drone' dominated tracks. The tour that begun in Boston continues through the United States over the next week or so before the nonet head to Europe then over to Australia in February. Tracklist and full tour listing below.
