ABOUT US

WHO ARE WE?

Indie30.com is a promotional music website run by a small band of indie music tragics from Australia who believe passionately in promoting independently made music from right across the globe. Indie music is not a meaningless term to us. It reflects independent thinking and a distinct musical culture that embraces and values difference and artistic freedom.

WHAT ARE WE DOING THIS FOR?

Put quite simply, because we love it. We get a real kick out of promoting new music from quality independent artists of most genres who make music for the right reasons. We also equally wish to help out the record labels that distribute the music and have these artists at the very forefront of their minds. We understand that the music industry for those who stay true to themselves and refuse to sell out the highest bidder can be a very tough road to travel. We are keen to assist in this process wherever we can.

HOW DO WE PROMOTE ARTISTS AND THEIR MUSIC ON OUR SITE?

First and foremost we realise that there are a lot of sites and blogs online that do similar things to us. So what makes us different?

Indie30.com contains a number of features that promote new music. The centrepiece and hence the name of the site is a dedicated TOP 30 CHART that is updated each Sunday. Each track featured in the countdown is accompanied by media content, either in the form of a download (at present available from third parties only), a video clip (usually freely available on youtube), or a streaming link. There are also links to purchase the single, EP or album it’s from and a link to the artist’s myspace site. There is also a points system that contributes to the INDIE30 TOP 100 tracks at the end of each calendar year.

The site also features a regularly updated NEWS SECTION highlighting what selected artists are doing, forthcoming and new album releases, tour dates and record label news as well as a FEATURE ALBUM section where our best new release album remains in the right panel for that entire week. The site also contains a dedicated ARCHIVE SECTION which contains all past content featured on the site.

All of the above content is presented in a stylish, modern design with a consistent format for adding content. Each track featured, whether in the chart or the news section contains the name of the track, the artist, the country they are from, the album from which the track is taken and the label that has released it in its country of origin. Release date information is also provided. As far as navigating through the site is concerned, we have deliberately kept the site as simple to use for readers as possible with minimal features.

At present, indie30 is a totally not for profit. We currently have no advertising on the site but are open to requests from appropriate indie music related businesses or organisations such as the artists themselves, record labels, websites, magazines and venues. We intend to be very careful in how we go about embarking on this process – the music will always come first and will never be compromised.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP US HELP YOU HELP US HELP YOU?

If you are an artist or a record label and want us to promote an upcoming release or just have some news to announce please e-mail us and let us know. By sending us a press kit of promotional photos, information about the release, a digital preview of the album, and permission to link to a stream or download of a track legally through our site, if we like what we hear, we’ll be another outlet to promote the music and the track may make it into the Top 30 or even be featured as a feature album.

We should point out that we are not music critics so there is no risk of negative press of any sort. Quite simply, if we like what we receive and are able to feature it on the site we will do so, if we don’t, we won’t.

It should be noted that we highly value artist ownership rights over content and would never use that content in illegal ways. Our site is for purely promotional purposes only.

If you are an existing music site or a blog we would like to hear how we could enter into cross-promotional ties – a mutual back scratching exercise. We would like to feature a list of like-minded sites or blogs for our readers to be exposed to and have ours featured on yours.

So if you want Indie30 to promote your music or your website feel free to contact us through the e-mail below.
