On Volcano, from Tampere, Finland, released their first EP, My Sleep Was Filled With Dreams, back in 2008 and have just dropped another EP, New Blood. This four piece sees most members contributing to vocals and all involved with one or more instruments. Beautifully arranged and heavy on the synths at times, we get nice slow build ups and the room to showcase their arrangements properly with all four tracks over six minutes long. The first track, 'The Explorer' meanders along wistfully with haunting vocals before completely changing tack, kicking up the tempo with vocals present for the final two minutes. 'Mission' is more straight up pop and features a distorted guitar intro before settling in to a nice, very catchy track. Check it out for yourself as they kindly offer the whole EP as a zip file from their website. On Vocano will be playing December 3 and February 19 in Helsinki. If modern indie-pop with shoegaze and post-rock is your thing have a listen below and enjoy.
