TOP 30: AIDAN KNIGHT, SEAN NICHOLAS SAVAGE, PROTOMARTYR & NEGATIVE GEMINI COME IN, SMALL BLACK TO NUMBER ONE
Sunday, 18 October 2015 01:56

While there has been some full length additions to the independent music pantheon recently, (our albums of the week as well as Terrible Truths, Deerhunter, Majical Cloudz and Small Black among others, there has been a little lull in the release of kick arse singles of late. Our apologies for the lateness of the chart this week. We do have four new entries to share with you. The first two come from Canadian artists, both of whom have been mainstays of the respective music scenes for many years. Victoria BC artist and co-founder of Adventure Boys Club records, Aidan Knight is due to put out his third album sometime next year and has recently shared that record's first single, the subtlely effecting, 'All Clear'. That enters at 25.

While Sean Nicholas Savage's work has exactly been up in our faces like that of other Arbutus Records artists, his recently released full length record, Other Death, has been slowly seeping into our musical pores over the last few weeks, so much so, that we could no longer ignore the albums first single, 'Propaganda' the personal clarion call for a free off beat approach to life in the face of the growing narrow conservatism in western society. It's at 27. (Check out his new video for the track 'Promises' below too)

Detroit post punk outfit Protomartyr, whose latest album, The Agent Intellect, is our current album of the week, recently released a new track from it, the angular, pulsating chord driven, 'I Forgive You'. That debuts one place behind at 28.

The final new entry is the latest synth driven number from Negative Gemini, the project of Queens NY artist, Lindsey French. The first single from her forthcoming LP, Body Work, the hypnotic slow burner, 'You Never Knew' sneaks in at 30.

The Top 30 has a new number one this week, appropriately by Brooklyn electronic quartet, Small Black, who's new album, Best Blues came out this week. 'No One Wants It To Happen To You', the album's second single takes the mantle from Satchkatchewan.

All details of every track including media, artist pages and release information can be found HERE while as per each week, all tracks are streaming in the Top 30 player.
